Profile
The Oxford Deanery co-ordinates the delivery and funding of Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education for the three counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. Our trainees currently work in 13 NHS and Primary Care Trusts, and in over 120 GP Practices throughout this area. The worldwide image and reputation of the University of Oxford is an important asset to the Deanery. The Deanery, building on its close links with the University Medical Sciences Division and the teaching hospitals in Oxfordshire, has an enviable reputation which needs to be maintained and enhanced. In this regard, a Clinical Academic School has been established. The Deanery is currently part of the NHS South of England Strategic Health Authority cluster. The Oxford Deanery works with all hospitals and GP practices within its patch as well as with the Wessex Deanery, the sister Deanery covering the southern part of the SHA’s region.
