THE WELLCOME TRUST/DBT INDIA ALLIANCE
The Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance (India Alliance) is a charitable Trust in India, jointly funded by The Wellcome Trust UK and the Government of India. The India Alliance’s mandate is to provide a Programme of Fellowship schemes across the full spectrum of Biomedical Sciences.
EARLY CAREER FELLOWSHIP:
This scheme is for the most promising postdoctoral researchers moving to India or within India, to launch their independent research career in India.
For the Fellowship, the applicant is required to identify:
A Research Proposal that seeks to answer an original Biomedical Research question;
A not-for-profit Host Institution in India that will administer the Fellowship;
A Fellowship Supervisor in the Host Institution, in whose laboratory the proposed research will be carried out.
Provisions
The Fellowship is for four years, and provides:
Generous personal support;
Flexible funding to conduct internationally competitive research;
Funding to work overseas for up to 2 years and develop international collaborations.
Eligibility
Applicants must be in the final year of their PhD studies (in any discipline of science but the proposal should include a Biologically relevant question) or have no more than four years of postdoctoral research experience from the date of their PhD viva to the full application submission deadline;
No age or Nationality restrictions;
The candidates need not be resident in India while applying but should be willing to establish an independent research career in India.
Remit
Any research relating to animal or human welfare; includes Basic Biomedical Research, Theoretical Biology, Biomedical engineering, Clinical Research, Public Health Research and Veterinary Sciences.
