Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman
Make a difference
Part time Clinical Advisers
(London and Manchester)
The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman is dedicated to improving public services by providing an excellent complaints service, and ensuring that government organisations and the NHS improve the way they deal with complaints and learn the lessons from complaints about them.
We are seeking Internal Clinical Advisers who are able to provide general advice to our caseworkers over a wide range of cases. We have a particular need for Radiologists, Neurologists, Clinicians with expertise in General Medicine, including Physicians with an interest/subspecialising in Nephrology and Clinicians with expertise in General Surgery.
Our Clinical Advisers work part time in the office while continuing to work part time in NHS clinical practice, so that they are able to bring current clinical knowledge and experience to the office, as well as the organisational context within which services are delivered.
Do you have experience of handling complaints or Serious Untoward Incidents (SUIs), or assessing the performance of students/trainees?
Do you have the ability to review and analyse a case quickly and write clear and concise short reports as well as provide advice verbally?
You should have a clear grasp of national standards and guidelines that exist in relation to the areas of work on which you advise.
The posts are based in Manchester and London, but occasional travel to both our offices may be required.
If you are currently working in the NHS, have an excellent track record at a Senior Clinical level, and are interested in supporting the work of the Ombudsman’s Office, we would like to hear from you. To find out more about the role and to apply online, please visit: www.ombudsman.org.uk/ workforus
Applications must be received by 18th June 2012, and interviews will be held week commencing 9th July 2012 for all posts.
We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from all sections of the community. We guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for the post.
