CONSULTANT ACUTE MEDICINE

with subspecialty interest in Infectious Diseases

Applications are invited for a Consultant in Acute Medicine with a subspecialty interest in Infectious Diseases. The successful applicant will join a team of Consultants providing clinical leadership and supervision to junior medical staff in Acute Medicine, ensuring that all patients receive high quality care in a timely fashion. This post has a potential for a suitably qualified candidate to provide specialist cover to the Infectious Diseases Team. The appointee will be expected to take part in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching and training, and ensure the effective delivery of the specialty specific medical take working as a conductor of a highly performing orchestra. These are exciting times for the development of Acute Medicine in Sheffield. The successful candidate will join 5.6 whole time equivalent Consultants in Acute Medicine in continuing to deliver a vision for the people of Sheffield. This post offers the chance to join a highly successful Foundation Trust, recently voted Hospital of the Year (North) for the third time in five years. The successful candidate must have completed Specialist Training and be entered on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council (GMC), or have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) date in Acute Medicine or General Internal Medicine within six months of the date of interview. Applicants with a CCT date in General Internal Medicine should have a minimum of 12 months’ recent experience in Acute Medicine. A clear interest and experience of Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) working and management is essential. You will also be required to hold a valid licence to practise in line with the introduction of revalidation on 16th November 2009.
