THE UNIVERSITY OF MANCHESTER

Academic Opportunities in the Faculty of Medical & Human Sciences

The University of Manchester is undertaking a major recruitment drive and wishes to
appoint over 50 outstanding senior academic staff to the Faculty of Medical & Human
Sciences. The Faculty has recently completed a strategic review and has introduced a new
matrix structure to focus on areas of strength.

On one axis are 5 Schools which cross a broad range of health related professions:

  • Medicine
  • Dentistry
  • Pharmacy
  • Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work
  • Psychology

On the other axis are 6 new Institutes defined by disease or disciplinary priorities:

  • Cancer Sciences
  • Cardiovascular Science
  • Inflammation & Repair
  • Population Science
  • Human Development (including women’s & children’s health)
  • Brain, Behaviour & Mental Health

We are very interested in recruiting outstanding academics in all of these areas and are able to provide high quality appointees with an excellent supportive environment. This recruitment effort is one aspect of a series of initiatives designed to enhance Manchester’s reputation as a world leading centre for medicine and health science. The Faculty works closely with other University of Manchester faculties and with our NHS partners in the
Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC).

Candidates should have a strong track record in research and/or education and have an inspiring view of the future for their fi eld and the contribution they will make to it.
