Locum Consultant in Gastroenterology

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant in Gastroenterology to commence as soon as possible. The contract will be for 12 months initially. The post is full-time (10 programmed activities). The postholder is expected to have a wide range of competencies in general Gastroenterology including therapeutic upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy, and would participate in the out-of-hours endoscopy rota. There is also a reduced commitment to general medical on-calls. There may be some flexibility in the job plan to meet the service requirements.

You will join a dynamic and cohesive Gastroenterology department consisting of 8 permanent and 1 Locum Consultant, 2 SpRs, 7 GI Specialist Nurses and 3 Upper GI/HPB Cancer Specialist Nurses. The Gastroenterology team is split between Luminal and Hepato-biliary subspecialisation. Our modern and well-equipped, four room Endoscopy unit carries out a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The team provides a wide range of gastroenterology services to almost 350,000 population on the Wirral peninsula. Wirral peninsula is an extremely attractive and sought after location with excellent schools and leisure facilities. It enjoys proximity to exciting cities such as Chester, Liverpool and Manchester with good rail and road links to the rest of the country, and yet maintains its rural character.

Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practise. The appointee must be able to demonstrate immunity to Hepatitis B, and will be subject to clearance by the Criminal Records Bureau.
