Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is made up of two of London’s best known teaching hospitals and employs over 12,500 staff and has over 1 million patient contacts a year.

The Department of Cellular Pathology is seeking a full-time (10 PA) consultant to join a dynamic and supportive team of colleagues. This is a new post to join the 3 whole time equivalent gastro-intestinal (GI) histopathologist posts currently in place. It will include participation in performing and supervising surgical specimen and biopsy cut-up and reporting from both the upper and lower GI tract, and relevant multi-disciplinary meetings including review of histological material referred from other hospitals. The department is involved in many exciting initiatives such as bio-banking and participation in clinical trials and research. We are looking for an individual with appropriate skills to complement the team and keep the service at the forefront of clinical and academic excellence. The postholder must have a demonstrable major interest in gastro-intestinal histopathology.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work within an innovative CPA accredited laboratory. It is a training centre for SpRs and ST1s, and is involved in medical and dental student education within the Guy’s, King’s & St Thomas’ School of Medicine.

You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold Licence to Practise and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent at interview stage.
