Consultant Clinical Adviser – Internal Clinical Guidelines Programme (ICG) - Centre for Clinical Practice

Part time 0.4 WTE

(up to four Programmed Activities/week)

Terms equivalent to NHS Consultant payscale (MC21/KC11/MC72 as appropriate)

Based in Manchester

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is seeking a Consultant Clinical Adviser to provide clinical leadership to the Institute’s ICG programme. The postholder will be responsible for providing relevant clinical advice during guideline development at the following key stages: preparation of draft guideline scope; attendance at GDG meetings; reviewing and providing comment on the pre-consultation drafts of guidelines; reviewing stakeholder comments and conducting internal sign off of guidelines prior to sign off by NICE’s Guidance Executive.


You will engage with the Institute’s stakeholders, including Health Professionals and other organisations and bodies that influence, or are affected by, our work.


A Medical Health Professional that is committed to evidence based practice, displaying flair, imagination and influencing skills. The successful candidate will have relevant Medical and Postgraduate qualifications, be registered with the GMC and be on the Specialist Register. You will also have held posts with significant responsibility and authority in the private or the public sector with responsibility for the development and operation of Clinical or Public Health Services.
