ACADEMIC CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRIST

The Department of Psychiatry, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Queen’s University, is currently seeking candidates for the position of an Academic Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist.


The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry has the full spectrum of an outpatient, inpatient and community based classroom. The outpatient specialises in the treatment of Child and Adolescent Emotional and Behavioural problems. We have dedicated clinics for Mood and Anxiety, and Eating and Neuropsychiatric Disorders including a community based classroom for children with Pervasive Developmental Disorders and an urgent consult clinic. Through excellent clinical services, ethical practices and caring for our patients, we have developed an excellent reputation for mental health services in the community. We have an outstanding collaborative relationship with the Departments of Paediatrics and Psychology, school boards and children’s mental health services.


This position will be a combination of inpatient and outpatient services, with responsibility for the Eating Disorders Team and some urgent consults. There will be active involvement in teaching Undergraduate medical students, and Postgraduate residents in Psychiatry, Family Medicine and Paediatrics.


The successful candidate must be eligible for licensure in Ontario. Preference will be given to applicants who have specialty certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and can provide evidence of a current involvement and commitment to education through the submission of an educational dossier and the identification of referees who can attest to the applicant’s education expertise.


Kingston is a University Town on the shores of Lake Ontario, with excellent access to three major cities (Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa) within driving distance, yet has the advantage of being a smaller town with excellent schools and quality of life.
