Consultant in Infectious Diseases
The Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust which encompasses Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital, Solihull Hospital and Community Services across Solihull serves one of the largest children’s populations of any NHS Trust and our community is socially and ethnically amongst the most diverse to be found within the UK. The challenges that this presents to our services and those of our partner agencies is positively welcomed by the Trust and the post-holder will be supported and encouraged to work with us to further develop our vision and strategy for enhancing safeguarding services across all of our services.
Applications are invited for a newly established post of Consultant in Infectious Diseases. This post has been created to further strengthen the Infection directorate and allow the development of a community and Trust-wide clinical Infection service. This service aims to improve the quality of infection management across all three hospital sites and support both admission avoidance and early hospital discharge using the community IV antibiotic programme.
The post attracts 10 PAs, which include the opportunity for 2.5 SPAs. The postholder will have a fixed weekly attendance at Good Hope hospital to attend Infection Consults and will be expected to have a weekly outpatient clinic. The remaining clinical activities will rotate between responsibilities for the inpatients on the Infectious Diseases ward and the Infection Outreach Service (including community IV therapy).
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within 6 months of obtaining specialist registration at the time of interview.
