The Director of Public Health and Wellbeing will have lead responsibility for promoting and protecting health and wellbeing, tackling health inequalities and improving health care quality. The postholder will work across the NHS and City of York Council to address wider key issues, in ensuring the health of the population, such as healthy lifestyles, disease control and preventative health services.
We are looking for a transformational and visionary leader, with experience of partnership working and a proven track record on health improvement and reduction of inequalities. Highly motivated and committed, you will need to demonstrate high levels of political awareness, and be capable of working to different organisational cultures and to plan and implement programmes for short and long term health gain.
Initially employed within the NHS PCT, the role of Director of Health and Wellbeing will transfer to the City of York Council from April 2013, with the transfer of the Public Health function.
