Applications are invited for the above post to commence on 3rd August 2012 for an initial period of 12 months, extendable following satisfactory appraisal.
 Manchester Royal Infirmary is a major Teaching Hospital situated next to the campus of the Manchester Medical School and University of Manchester. The Department of General Surgery carries out a broad spectrum of Open and Laparoscopic Surgery in the Colorectal, HPB, Upper GI subspecialties.
 The post is suitable for candidates wishing to gain experience prior to applying for Higher Surgical Training, and for those wishing to complete a higher degree. The postholder will gain experience in a wide range of Elective and Emergency General Surgical procedures as well as the Pre-peri and Post-operative Care of complex Surgical patients. There will be ample opportunity to participate in Audit and Research.
 The postholder will participate on the Surgical full shift system between 8.00am and 9.00pm on a 1:8 with prospective cover. In addition, this post will contribute to a 1:14 week of nights (8.45pm to 8.45am) system cross covering General Surgery and Orthopaedics.
 This post will be paid on the Specialty Registrar fixed term payscale: £29,705 to £39,300.
