Salary: £74,504-£100,446 per annum pro rata, subject to experience
Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust are looking to appoint two whole time Consultant Psychiatrist posts within Adult Mental Health Services; both posts participate in the local service on-call rota.
Post 1: Assertive Outreach and Early Intervention - North Lincolnshire (Reference: 376-NLMS83). This post is located in North Lincolnshire for the care of people within the Assertive Outreach Team and the Early Intervention Team. This includes one Programmed Activity for Adult ADHD and Transition Clinics with a Community Paediatrician, and would best suit a candidate who may have or wish to develop special interest in this area. The Assertive Outreach Team encompasses a philosophy of multidisciplinary teamwork, which aims to offer a range of therapeutic and Psychosocial interventions promoting health, well-being and social inclusion.
The team works with people who have a severe and enduring Mental Illness and have failed to engage with other Community Mental Health services. The Consultant Psychiatrist is the responsible Clinician who is fully involved in the team. The Early Intervention Team is designed to work specifically for people aged 14 and above (14-18 in conjunction with CAMHS). Our aim is to provide Early Assessment and Treatment for young people who are experiencing their first episode of Psychosis. Most of the clients have complex needs, which may include Substance Misuse and social problems. There is a strong emphasis on teamwork, and a multidisciplinary approach including Psychosocial Interventions and Psychopharmacology. There are no regular Outpatient Clinics, and clients are mostly seen in their own homes as and when required.
Post 2: Rehabilitation and Early Intervention - Doncaster (Reference: 376-DMS82). This post is located in Doncaster for the care of people within the Early Intervention Service and patients in Coral Lodge (Rehabilitation). Coral Lodge is a newly developed, 16 bedded, male only, locked Rehabilitation Unit.
It is for patients who require Assessment and Treatment for a Severe and Complex Mental Illness who have also exhibited Problematic Behaviour of a nature which cannot be currently managed outside of a locked environment. The patients do not have significant Forensic Problems.  The purpose of the Unit is to provide a local service for patients who historically have needed treatment out of the area. The Early Intervention Service is based within the community at the Jade Centre.
Our aim is to provide Early Assessment and Treatment for predominantly young people aged 14-35 who are experiencing their first episode of Psychosis. Most of the clients have complex needs, which may include Substance Misuse and social problems. There is a strong emphasis on teamwork and a multidisciplinary approach, including Psychosocial interventions and Psychopharmacology. There are no Outpatient Clinics and clients are mostly seen in their own homes. The postholder will also run the Doncaster adult ADHD Service. This currently takes the form of a weekly clinic for diagnosis and supervision of adult ADHD patients, for whom prescribing occurs under shared-care arrangements.
Within these two posts, the Consultant will work within the teams using the new ways of working, and therefore has no specific caseload of their own but supports and supervises the Multidisciplinary Teams. The Consultant will see patients as required in consultation with the team.
Applicants must have MRCPsych or equivalent higher qualification, must be on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry or a trainee within six months of completing their Certificate of Completion of Training, with evidence of good communication skills and a commitment to multidisciplinary and multi-agency working.
