Clinical Fellow (Higher Grade) Cardiac Pacing & Device Therapy
Salary: £29,705 to £46,708 per annum
There are 14 consultant cardiologists within the adult cardiac pacing and device therapy department including 3 full-time electrophysiologists and one device specialist. The initial contract is for a period of 12 months.
We provide tertiary cardiac services to a large population throughout the North West of England. For pacing and electrophysiology, we are one of two centres delivering services to a population of approximately 5 million. In 2010 we performed over 700 EP procedures year of which approximately 30% were AF ablation procedures and implanted 47 CRT-P, 47 CRT-P, 72 ICDs and a further 358 bradycardia devices.
You should have undergone at least 2 years specialist training in general cardiology and have some experience in electrophysiological procedures and device implantation. You will receive practical training and experience in all aspects of cardiac pacing and device implantation. There may also be some exposure to device extraction procedures and you will be expected to attend dedicated arrhythmia and pacing clinics.
ON CALL - A contribution to the cardiology middle grade rota is expected (approx 1:15). This is generally a non-resident on-call rota although on high intensity on call nights the middle grade will be expected to be resident within the hospital.
You must be in possession of the MRCP or equivalent and be on the General Medical Council’s Register.
