Eight Programmed Activities
From June 2011 for six months in the first instance
Applications are invited for this Specialty Doctor post to join an enthusiastic and forward looking multidisciplinary Rehabilitation Team to cover a period of Maternity Leave. The post involves both inpatient and community work. This post is for an initial six months, with the possibility of an extension.
 The Young Adult Rehabilitation Unit at Raigmore has eight beds and a skilled multidisciplinary team. There is extensive outpatient and community work, and the opportunity to join Community Teams across NHS Highland in assessing and delivering Rehabilitation to patients with Neurological Disability. The postholder would work closely with the Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine, the Therapy and Nursing Teams. There is the opportunity to gain skills in the assessment and management of Spasticity and use of Botulinum Toxin if the candidate does not already possess that skill, and also the management of Baclofen pumps. A community acquired Brain Injury Service is being developed and the postholder can contribute to this exciting development.
 There are two Rehabilitation Clinics per week at Raigmore and two Wheelchair Clinics. In addition, there are Peripheral Clinics across NHS Highland and the postholder would have the opportunity to attend some of these. There is also the opportunity to undertake home visits for assessment of patients who cannot travel.
 There are weekly Education Meetings in the Department of Medicine at Raigmore and the opportunity to develop links with other Rehabilitation Units. This is a very exciting and challenging specialty with considerable opportunity to contribute to the development of Rehabilitation Medicine within NHS Highland.
 You will rneed to possess full registration with a licence to practise and experience of Hospital Medicine at senior level including experience of working within a multidisciplinary Rehabilitation Team.
