SANDWELL AND WEST BIRMINGHAM HOSPITALS NHS TRUST
Applications are invited for this replacement post to provide a Microbiology service to Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust. The Trust is one of the largest Teaching Trusts in the United Kingdom. It serves a large ethnically diverse population who can present with interesting and challenging Infectious Diseases.
You will work closely with the three existing Consultants and an experienced team of technical staff and Infection Control Nurses working across the whole of the Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to help provide an excellent service to diagnose, manage and control infection.
The Trust has invested significantly in Pathology and this includes a new combined Microbiology laboratory for the Trust based at City Hospital. A full range of Microbiological investigations is carried out there including Molecular Biology. Research interests in the department include a national and international reputation in Chemotherapy as well as hospital acquired infection. The postholder will be encouraged to pursue relevant clinical and research interests. In the longer term plans for a brand new hospital to replace the existing City and Sandwell Hospitals are well advanced.
Applicants must be included on the GMC’s Specialist Register in Microbiology, or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), at the time of interview.
