Managing your emails

Do...

  • Keep separate email ID for work and for personal communication

  • Check new emails daily

  • Delete the emails which aren't important

  • Frequently check and delete any old emails, starting with the oldest first

  • Regularly check the emails in your “sent” folder, and remove the unwanted ones

  • Check for viruses before you download any email attachment

  • Make hard copy printouts of very important emails and file them

  • Upgrade the capacity of your mailbox if required

  • Download important attachments and store them in your computer hard disk or on a CD

  • Keep your email ID simple and relevant to your name and workplace

  • Use similar password if possible for different email IDs

  • Always log off from your email account every time you leave the computer

Don't...

  • Divulge your email username and password to anyone

  • Delete emails if you think they might be important in the future

  • Use your work email ID for your personal communication

  • Keep too many passwords and usernames
