Applications for the academic foundation programme and for the standard foundation programme will be aligned for candidates applying to start in summer 2013.
Individuals applying to the academic foundation programme in 2013 will complete the national foundation programme application form and have the option to apply for an academic programme. Candidates will be able to apply to a maximum of two academic units of application.
Applicants for a place on either foundation programme will have to submit their applications between 8 and 19 October 2012 Academic programmes will be viewable online from 28 August 2012.
Applicants to both programmes will need to sit a situational judgment test at the end of end of this year or early in 2013.
The situational judgment test replaces the “white space” questions on the foundation programme application form, and a new educational performance measure will be used to rank candidates’ clinical and non-clinical skills, knowledge, and performance to date.
The UK Foundation Programme Office has published guidance on these changes that includes information on the new situational judgment test and educational performance measure, the educational performance measure framework, frequently asked questions, a worked situational judgment test practice paper, and four application videos presented by the UKFPO’s medical student advisor, Omair Shariq.
